June Margaret Berg Yoachum, a longtime resident of Pillager and Baxter Minnesota passed away on Thursday 22 Nov 2012 at the age of 93. Services for June will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, WI.
On June 11, 1919, June was the fourth child born to George Sabert Berg (May 7, 1886 - November 12, 1960) and Margaret Holmwood Berg (August 14, 1894 - February 3, 1923). She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Yoachum, an infant sibling, sisters, Marie Berg Mross Goggins and Shirley Berg Beetcher Bentfield; and brother, George "Bud" Berg.
June had many personal friends that she kept close to her heart. Sandy Walker was extra special, always looking in on June and was there when June needed her the most. June looked forward to Sandy's visits and the nightly viewing of Wheel of Fortune. June was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching televised games and second-guessing the umpires. The week was not complete unless it included at least one trip to Wal-Mart to sip a coke and visit with Vivian and other friends who simply enjoyed watching the people. Jean, a lifelong friend and co-worker from Wisconsin never missed an opportunity to send June a package with her favorite homemade cookies. June would tuck them away in the freezer and eat them sparingly so the gift would last longer.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff of Bethany Good Samaritan, 5th floor with special acknowledgment to Andrea for her sincere kindness, respect and professional manner in June's time of need.
Someone once said "life gives us 10%; 90% is how we react to it." June's ten percent was filled with more than her fair share of heartache, disappointment and loneliness. Through her faith; tenacity, and strength of character she developed a remarkable outlook on life vowing to make every day a good day. How many times have we all heard her say "Can't complain." Death leaves a heartache no one can heal…love leaves a memory no one can steal. June left us with many memories and so "We can't complain."
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her nieces: Marjorie Beetcher Clark, Austin, Texas, daughter of Shirley and Leonard Beetcher; Sheila Mross Grossinger, Cushing, Minnesota, daughter of Shirley Berg; and Denise Thrane Bentfield Rauen, adopted daughter of Elmer and Shirley Bentfield, of Baxter, Minnesota; and several grand nieces and nephews.
