June Sycks

May 26, 1934 — May 15, 2017

June (Nagel) Sycks of Hackensack MN, passed away at her home on Monday, May 15, 2017. June was born on May 26, 1934, to parents Ewald and Carrie Nagel in Villard, MN. On January 22, 1956, she married Duane "Chum" Sycks in Hackensack, MN.

Survivors are her husband, Chum; sons, Mike (Luanne) of Hackensack, Mark (Linda) of Becker; and 3 grandchildren, Catrina (Tyler) Foss, Mikayla and Brandon; brothers, Robert (Jenny) Nagel, Richard (Kay) Nagel; sisters, Gladys (Verne) Chelte, Sandy Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, Ewald and Carrie Nagel; sister, Donna Westlund; niece, Patty Finney; and brothers-in-law, Dale Westlund, Jack Finney and Ernie Richardson.

June spent most of her working career at KNMT channel 12 until the facility closed in the early 90's. After the closing of the TV station she served as the secretary for the UCC church and worked at Greentree Graphics to keep active. Together June and Chum ran a small farm raising beef cattle and sheep. She was very active in the farm activities and had a loving touch for the animals that were raised.
June had an excellent sense of humor and unending patience. She was devoted to her family and loved to have everyone together at the farm. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Unfortunately, June was struggling with Alzheimer's but she still stayed positive until the end and we felt blessed that she was able to stay in her home with her husband until her passing. Memorials to the ALZ.org (Alzheimer's Association) would be appreciated so we can overcome this disease.

Memorial service will be 11 AM on Saturday, May 20, at Union Congregational Church, Hackensack. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Backus.
