June Moldstad was called to her eternal home on July 19, 2024. She was born Edith June Barber in Bedford, England on June 2, 1938 to Violet and Stanley Barber. She was baptized into the Christian faith as a child. After her parents divorced and during WWII, her mother fell in love with an American soldier named George Howard. On July 8, 1947, Edith and her mother came to the United States through Ellis Island on the ship Britannia to join George in Muskegon, MI. In 1956, at the age of 18, Edith became a United States citizen and changed her name to June Edith Howard. She married Bruce Bestervelt on March 23, 1958. This uinion was blessed with two daughters, Jo and Terri. The family lived in Michigan, California, Texas, Minnesota and Florida. June worked as an Administrative Assistant at many places during her lifetime. She was widowed in March, 1982 and six years later married Rev John Moldstad on January 1, 1988. They lived in Florida and Minnesota. June found herself widowed again in December, 2022.
In addition to being a faithful pastor’s wife to both of her husbands, June was also active in her church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving as a church secretary, and always desiring to serve her Lord.
She is survived by her brother, Robin (and Barb) Howard; sister-in-law, Marcia (Carl) Bjerregaard; brother-in-law, Edward (Marilyn) Mallonen; her children: daughter-in-law Joslyn; son, Don (and Gina) Moldstad; daughters, Jo (and Thomas) Petersen; Lois (and Paul) Fick; and Terri Fossedal; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Barber, Violet & George Howard; husbands, Bruce Bestervelt and John Moldstad; son, John Moldstad, Jr.; her sister, Vickie Melton; grandson, Jesse Fossedal; and great granddaughter, Greta Moldstad.
A funeral service will be held on July 27, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, Baxter, MN at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will be held at Norseland Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Peter on July 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
Memorials will be directed to HospiceCare in the Brainerd Lakes area.
