June S. Carlson, 86, of Baxter died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Services for June will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11:00AM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00PM. Following interment a luncheon will be held at Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room in Baxter, MN.

June was born on June 10, 1927 in Bird Island, MN to Erwin and Meta (Stark) Rieke. She was raised in Fairfax, MN and graduated High School there in 1945. She then moved to Minneapolis and married Robert Carlson on August 3, 1947 in Fairfax, MN. Robert and June made their home in Minneapolis for several years until they moved to St. Louis Park, MN. In 1986 they moved to their cabin on Pine Mountain Lake in Backus, MN and then in 2005 they moved to Baxter, MN, then moving to Excelsior Place Assisted Living in 2009. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing. June's priority in her life was always her family. She will be remembered as a good friend to many people.

June is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert; children, Carol (Richard) Engelstad, Barbara (Scott) Hare, and Bruce (Sharon) Carlson; grandchildren, Kevin, Monica, Ian, Erin (fiancée, Tyler), Blake, and Jennifer; great-grandchild, Mya; cousins; two sisters-in law; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant granddaughter; grandson, Jason; and special cousins, James, Delbert, Ray, and Ada.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
