Judy Cantleberry, 77, a life long resident of Scandia Valley Township, died peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014 at her home on Lake Shamineau. She had been diagnosed with cancer last fall.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, with Father Joe Korf officiating. Burial will follow the services at Scandia Valley Cemetery.
Judy was born on April 7, 1937, in Little Falls, the youngest daughter of William and Anna Cota. She graduated from Pillager High School and in 1956 she married Henry Cantleberry, Jr. in San Diego, CA. After returning to Minnesota they farmed for many years, making their home on Lake Shamineau and operating their sawmill business from there. During these years Judy worked for the University of Minnesota Extension Service, Morey's Fish Company, Chef Roberts, and Coborn's. She enjoyed many hobbies, cooking for and family, and countless social groups, always volunteering her help in a host of community events. She most loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling, especially spending winters in San Diego with her family there.
Judy will be missed by her children, Becky (Jim) Ward, of Texas, Wade (Sue) Cantleberry, of Motley, Brad Cantleberry and Dana, of Cushing, and Lisa (John) Allen, of Motley; and her beloved twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents; and sisters, Evelyn and Beverly.
