Judy Bass

Judith Ann Bass, age 82 of Baxter passed away on April 4th, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. She was born in Minneapolis on December 21, 1942 to James and Virginia (Green) Congdon.

Judy grew up in the Twin Cities and moved to northern Minnesota later in life, always working in real estate. She enjoyed traveling, camping and being outdoors, she was crafty and continued the tradition from her mother of creating beautiful hand knit afghans for many babies over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, though with her birthday being so close to Christmas, she made it known that she did not enjoy any sort of holiday flowers for her birthday.

Judy spent much of her life guiding and supporting individuals on their journey to sobriety, offering compassion and strength. Her quiet resilience and commitment helped countless women find hope and healing in their darkest moments.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, James and Virginia Congdon and sister-in-law Cindy Congdon.

She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence Cuzzupe of 26 years, daughters Tracey (Tony) Bodway of Howard Lake, MN, Tammy (Bob) Hanson of Aitkin, MN, son Rob (Karri) Bass of Isanti, MN, Amy Schmidt of Anoka, Angela (Eric) Solie of Tampa, FL, Anthony (Niki) Cuzzupe of Brooklyn Park, MN. Grandchildren, Alecia Wahlin, Derek Bodway, Joseph Bodway, Rachel Hanson, Andrea Hanson, Alaska Larson, William Larson, Ellen Schmidt, Ethan Schmidt, Nina Solie, Mira Solie, Jalen Cuzzupe, Nyla Cuzzupe and 9 great grandchildren. Brother James Congdon, sister Janice (Bruce) Rankin, many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 11:00 am on June 21, 2025 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be sent to the Rett Syndrome Research Trust, visit www.rsrt.org for more information.
