Judith Anderson

Judith Anderson, age 86, of Backus, passed away on Friday, October 28, at her home. She was born to Louis and Olive Riemenschnieder on April 21, 1936, in St. Paul. Judith earned an Early Childhood Education degree from CLC in Brainerd. She and her husband, David, owned Anderson Furs and Bowen Lake Resort, Judith was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #368 in Backus and Backus First Response Team. She loved crafts, traveling, dancing, fishing and camping. Her most significant accomplishment was a 68-year happy marriage.

Judith is survived by her husband of 68 years, David; daughter, Diana Perry (Ralph) of Pine River; sons, David (Jody) of Grand Rapids, Mike (Rilla) of Pine River, Randy (Diana) of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Lois Hix of Albuquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marie; grandchildren, Jessica Holmgren and Ryan “Bub” Johnson.

Services will be 1 PM on Monday, November 7, at Lakeside Baptist Church, Backus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Luncheon will follow services at the Backus American Legion. Memorials are preferred to the Jessica Holmgren Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o of Brainerd CLC Foundation, 501 W. College Dr., Brainerd, MN 56401.
