Juanita DeVries

Juanita (Diane) DeVries, 91, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at her apartment at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, MN. She will be interred at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls, MN in the spring.

She was born on August 28, 1925 in Peoria, IL to Charles and Hazel Duttarer. She married Richard DeVries on June 11, 1945 and he died on February 28, 2010. Juanita worked at Belwood Nursing Home in Illinois for 20 years before retiring. They retired to Minnesota in 1981 and enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling. She was also known for her sewing and quilting and even won ribbons at the county fair. She lived for her family and loved spending time and playing games with them. She will be missed by all.

Juanita is survived by her two sons, Larry (Jeanne) of Pequot Lakes, MN and Richard of Trivoli, IL; two daughters, Becky (George) Guminga of Pequot Lakes, MN and Julie (Chuck) Theising of Brainerd, MN; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Memorials may be made to Nisswa-Lakeshore First Responders PO Box 410 Nisswa, MN 56468. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
