Joyce Borgstrom, 67, of Pillager, died Friday, February 19, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Riverside Assisted Living in Pillager, MN. A Memorial Service for Joyce will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Pillager, with Pastor Hector Merced officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 5:30-8:00PM, Friday, March 4, 2016 at the church.
Joyce was born March 26, 1948 in Brainerd, MN to William and Ruby "LaVonne" (McBroom) Friday. Joyce lived on Lower Mission Lake near Merrifield. She graduated from Crosby Ironton High School and the University of Minnesota with a degree in Home Economics. Joyce lived in Montevideo and then moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area where she worked for the State of Minnesota for over 30 years as a caregiver, until her retirement. She enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping, cooking, baking, crocheting, watching her boys in sporting events, and visiting with her friends. Joyce especially loved being a mother and a grandmother.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Paul Borgstrom of Pillager; children, Tyson Rondorf of Pillager, Jeremy (Sara) Rondorf of Andover, Stephen (Megan) Szczodroski of Coon Rapids, Anthony (Trisha) Szczodroski of Brainerd; step children, Brandon (Amy) Borgstrom of Brainerd, Carmon (Mike) Godfrey of Ironton, Jason (Jessie) Borgstrom of Pillager; brother, Bill Friday of Sacred Heart, MN; fifteen grandchildren; and her two loving puppies, Lucas and Teddy. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruby "LaVonne" Friday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
