Joseph Malinowski

March 27, 1943 — April 8, 2018

Joseph “Joe” Malinowski, 75, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in St. Cloud on the Sunday of Divine Mercy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman. Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday evening at the church from 4 PM – 8 PM and again Thursday one hour prior to service. There will be a rosary at 4:30 PM, parish prayers at 5:30 PM, and prayers by the Knights of Columbus at 7 PM on Wednesday evening.

Joe was born March 27, 1943, in Harding, the son of Edward and Cecilia (Pryzbilla) Malinowski Following his high school graduation in 1961, he enlisted in the US Navy and was aboard USS Thor. After serving his country for two years, Joe began working for the Ford Plant in Minneapolis. On May 31, 1968, he was united in marriage to Mary Otremba and the couple made their home in Minneapolis. When their first child was born, Joe and Mary decided to move to Pierz where they eventually owned and operated the family farm while raising their four children. Joe loved farming and especially his John Deere tractors. He took pride in all the hard work farming involved and the 39 years he dedicated to it. He also enjoyed getting to use his welding and metal work skills. Joe was a member of the American Legion and VFW as well as the Greater Minnesota Two Cylinder Club and Knight of Columbus.

He enjoyed talking with people and spending time with his friends. He was a social butterfly. Most of all, Joe loved his family. He was proud of his children and grandchildren. They brought him much joy.

Joe is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Mary; children, Michelle (special friend, Ken Knopik) Reardon, of Pierz, Renee (Brad) Bacon, of Cold Spring, Jerry (Steph) Malinowski, of Pierz and Kevin (Jerica) Malinowski, of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Cole, Paige (Tyler Millner), Taylor, Claire (Brandon Tresco) Reardon, Chandler and Ciera Bacon, Jacob Klein, Shelby Malinowski, Ethan and Hanna Malinowski; and siblings, Ralph Malinowski, Eloise Becker, Ronald Malinowski, Kathy Meyer, and Frances Bakken. He was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Cecilia and son-in-law, Jim Reardon.
