Joseph "Bob" Schmidt Age 83, of Crosslake, MN, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Duluth, MN.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN. Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Bob was a decorated Vietnam War veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during his two-year deployment overseas. Born on March 26, 1941, to Joseph and Pearl Schmidt in Minneapolis, MN, Bob led a life full of passion, dedication, and love for his family, friends, and country.
Bob was an avid golfer and a lifelong fitness enthusiast, enjoying body building and weightlifting in his earlier years. His love for the casinos brought him many moments of joy, and his favorite singer was none other than Elvis Presley. Bob was a man with a big heart and a great sense of humor, and he lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Barb Nelson of Crosslake, MN; cousin, Sherman Nelson; nephews, Thomas Johnston and Richard Johnston; niece, Kathy Tremmel; along with five great-nieces and a great-nephew. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Schmidt; his previous wife, Linda DeYoung, who passed away in 2012; his sister Mary Anne; and cousins, Joey and Mary Jensen.
Bob’s family and friends will cherish the many memories and the laughter he brought into their lives. He will be deeply missed.
