Joseph Biessener, age 65, of Brainerd, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 14, 11 AM, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, with Reverend Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Friends may visit Wednesday, April 13, 5-7 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with rosary and parish prayers at 6:30. Services will be followed by cremation, with private interment at Minnesota State Veteran?s Cemetery in Camp Ripley.
Joseph Henry Biessener was born July 21, 1939 in St. Nicholas, to Mathias and Clara (Menning) Biessener. He served in the US Navy from 1958-1962. He was united in marriage to Stephanie Mans June 29, 1961, in Park Rapids. The couple moved to Brainerd in 1967, where Joe was a UPS truck driver until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, and belonged to the American Legion, Post 255. He enjoyed music, and played guitar, accordion, and keyboard. He enjoyed gardening in the past, and had built doll houses.
Joseph is survived by Stephanie, his wife of 43 years; his children, Joan (Terry) Bassett, of Elk River, Edward (Debra) Biessener, of Brainerd, Wendy (Marshall) Westby, of Sauk Rapids, and Kevin (Heather Astrig) Biessener, of Lovell, WY; his siblings, Louise Czechzok, of Park Rapids, Margory Miller, of Laughton, ND, Irene Sterner, of Park Rapids, Jerome Biessener, of Akeley, Kathryn Menge, of Sioux Falls, SD, Bernard Biessener, of St. Paul, and Lorraine Schmitz, of Akeley;7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Biessener; and a brother, Ralph Biessener.
