John Voelker

December 21, 1952 — August 28, 2004

John Voelker, 51, of Baxter, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 2, at 2 p.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Friends may visit Wednesday, September 1, 6-8 p.m., at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will be in Winona, at a later date.
John Allen Voelker was born December 21, 1952, in Winona, to Leo and Rosemary (Grochowski) Voelker. He graduated high school and earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Winona State University. He was united in marriage to Lynn Youngmann in Caledonia on July 25, 1981. He moved with his family to Baxter in 1984, when he became employed at the DNR. He was presently the Assistant Area Supervisor for Trails and Waterways. John was a dedicated husband and father who was honest, caring, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, woodworking, and gardening and bird watching with Lynn.

John is survived by Lynn, his wife of 23 years; his children, Emily and James, both at home; his parents, Leo and Rosemary Voelker, of Winona; a sister, Mary (Paul) Wilndenborg, of Goodview; and a brother, Mark (Ramona) Voelker of Plymouth.
