John Swanson

John A. Swanson, 77, of Crosslake, MN died at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Services for John will be held on Monday, May 7th, 2018 at 11:30AM at Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will take place at the Crosslake Lutheran Church Columbarium.

John was born on October 10, 1940 in Tracy, MN to Myron and Beverly Swanson. He graduated from Minnetonka High School and attended the University of Minnesota. John owned Swanson’s Farmers Insurance in Excelsior, MN for 45 years until his retirement. John moved to the Crosslake area in the mid-90’s. He enjoyed cruising the lakes with family and friends, golfing, playing softball with the Ageless Wonders, and traveling. He liked watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. John was a member of the Crosslake Lutheran Church, Crosslake Lutheran Church Choir, volunteer fireman, a member of the Rotary Club for 35 years, and loved singing with the Big Kids Group of Minneapolis. John will always be remembered for his friendly, caring, and honest personality. He loved spending time with people especially Helen and his family.

John is survived by his loving life partner of 17 years, Helen; son, Steven (Elisse) Swanson of Big Lake, MN; daughter, Lisa (Randy) Titus of Murphys, CA; Helen’s son, Todd (Tawnya) Estrem; and Helen’s daughter, Pamela (Randy) Thuleen; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his second wife, Karen’s two children, Marc Thompson and Diana Thompson; three brothers, Dennis Swanson, Keith Swanson, and Dean Swanson; and one sister, Doris Gabala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Beverly; and his wife, Karen. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to The American Cancer Society or Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
