John Oberg

John Oberg, age 73, of Pine River, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was born to Kenneth and Molly Oberg on July 16, 1939, in Long Prairie. He grew up in Palisade and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1957. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962, based out of Los Alamitos Navy Base in California. On June 26, 1964, he married Louise Thompson. His work history included United Health, Olan Mills, Saks Consultant, Lifetouch, and Carlson Hardware, Nisswa.

He is survived by his children: John Oberg, Jr. (Cindy Zickert), Susan Juaire (Roger), Christopher Oberg (Stacy Johnson); 7 grandchildren; special friend, Sharon Fischer; extended family: Colleen Smith, Bill Smith, Sheila Kruckow, Carla Patterson (Patt), John Shriver (Kathy).

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Olivia Grace; special friend, Barb Shriver.

Services will be 2 PM on Wednesday, July 25, at Salem Lutheran Church, Longville, with Pastor Bob Alley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Ponto Lake Cemetery.
