John McClintick

John G. McClintick, 74, passed away from heart failure surrounded by family on September 23, 2017 at the Long Prairie Care Center.

John was born March 31, 1943 in Gainesville, Texas to Stanley and Leona (Smith) McClintick. He lived in South Dakota, working with his uncle doing masonry in Sturgis, South Dakota, then as a heavy equipment mechanic in the coal fields of Wyoming. He spent the last 20 years working as a logger in the Black Hills. In 2014, due to failing health, John moved to Philbrook, Minnesota to live with his daughter. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, gardening, watching wild life and his dogs.

He is survived by his daughters Laurie McClintick of Philbrook, and Lynn (Jason) Widdoss; his grandchildren Sarah, Krysta, and John Widdoss of Douglas, Wyoming; his mother, Leona Cuchan of Long Prairie, Minnesota; sisters Janice (Stan) Tyrrell of Staples, MN and Pat Christiansen; and many nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his father, Stanley McClintick, and brother-in-law, Ardean Christiansen. A private family service will be held for John.
