John Kubitza

John Kubitza, Jr, 90, of Browerville, MN died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Funeral services for John will be 11:00AM, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Church of Christ Church in Staples, MN with Pastor Barry Klein officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Church of Christ and also one hour prior to services at the church. Military Honors are provided by Tri County Post #124. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN.

John was born October 7, 1924 to John and Alice (Dvorak) Kubitza in Chicago, IL. He was raised and educated in the Browerville area. The family farmed in Moran Township, Todd County, MN and later moved to Fawn Lake Township, where he farmed with his parents. He worked at Great Northern Railroad in the buildings and bridges division. John served in the US Army from 1950-1952, and returned to the Railroad for a time after his Honorable Discharge from the Army. He attended Dunwoody Institute in the mid 1950's for welding. John worked as a welder for a variety of companies until age 62 in 1986, when he retired. He enjoyed hunting, flower gardening, growing large pumpkins for his grand nieces and nephews, lawn mowing, watching the History Channel, Military programs, COPS, and Greed.

John is survived by his brother, Rick (Cheryl) Kubitza of Browerville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Kubitza; two sisters, Eleanor Koen and Florence Tepley Finley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
