John Knutson

John Knutson, age 74, of Pequot Lakes passed away Friday, December 28, at his home, after a 4-year battle with esophageal cancer. John was born to John and Mary Knutsen on February 28, 1938, in Brainerd. He grew up in Ideal Corners and graduated from Pequot Lakes High School. He married Jane Erickson in 1982. John was an expert trapper, hunter and fishing guide. He worked for Potlatch, the DNR, and Pine River High School.

John is survived by his wife, Jane Erickson; daughter, Sherrie Messerschmidt ( Bob) of Cincinnati, OH; sons: Ken Knutson of Big Lake, John Knutson of Duluth; sister, Sandy Buschmann (Larry) of Breezy Point; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and close hunting buddy, Steve Silk.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be 1 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Pelican Woods Cemetery Breezy Point.
