John Fisker

John W. Fisker, age 73, of Backus, was taken much too early by brain cancer on Monday, August 24, 2009. He was born February 27, 1936 in Egan, SD, to Paul and Anne Pedersen.
John graduated from Patrick Henry High School and served 4 years in the Navy Band. He graduated with a music degree from the University of Minnesota. He had a long successful music career including big bands out of New York, Golden Strings, and Chanhassen Dinner Theater. He and his wife, Dorothy retired in 1998 to beautiful Ponto Lake, spending the next 11 years enjoying the Brainerd Lakes area with friends & family, fishing, golfing & playing gigs.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; children: Jeff (Sue), Leora (Doug), Gus (Glenda), Blake (Carol); mother, Anne Fisker, 5 grandchildren: Nathanael, Jesse, Zach, Wes, & Erin; 3 nephews, 1 niece and by the most incredible friends all over the United States.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 29th at Salem Lutheran Church, 1340 County 5, Longville MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
