John Drum

John Hugh Drum, 73, of Pequot Lakes, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was born February 19, 1946 to Francis and Mary Drum in Superior, WI. John was raised in Robbinsdale, MN where he graduated high school in 1964. He was a world class ski jumper and flyer, attended the U of M in Minneapolis, and was a Marine who served in Vietnam. He married Cynthia Olson and had two children, Angela and Jason. He resided in Ideal Township and most recently in Homosassa, FL with his dear friend Margo Schifsky.

John was preceded in death by his father, Francis. He is survived by his mother, Mary; sister, Virginia (Fred); children, Angie and Jason (Colleen); grandchildren, Savannah, Bruen, and Drake; niece, Carrie Newhouse (Jay); nephew, Michael Wherland (Heidi); and many friends who cared for and loved him.

John was a caring and generous father, grandfather, son, coach and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will forever be in our hearts.

Please join us to celebrate John’s life. A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Sunday, Sept. 8, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
