A celebration of the life of John E. "Louie" Dombrovski, age 57 of Cushing, will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 405 E MN AV, Randall MN, on Monday, July 26th, beginning with a 9:00 AM visitation followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. John died unexpectedly at home of natural causes on July 18, 2010. Interment will follow services at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
John was born on Sept. 4, 1952 in St. Cloud, MN to Daniel and Rose Mary (Kostreba) Dombrovski. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1970 and St. Cloud Vocational and Technical College in 1971 in Sales and Management. John enlisted in the US Navy and served on the submarine USS Ethan Allen and received the National Defense Service medal. He married Patricia Eiynck on June 21, 1975 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waite Park. They later divorced. John's work history includes being a paper boy as a youth, assisting the owner of Jim's Bicycle and Skate Shop and working at Grant's store. Upon his return from the Navy, John worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until the late 1980's when he started a landscape business, Northwood's Nursery and Custom Digging located in rural Cushing. In 1998, John pursued his dream of becoming owner of a restaurant and bar and established the Elk Creek Saloon and Eatery in Lincoln. He ran both businesses until the time of his death. He was a member of the local Lion's Club, the Lincoln Lakes Area Business Association and the MN Landscape Association.
John will be remembered as a generous, hard working father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He was never without his smile and positive attitude. John loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked the challenge of growing new and different plants. John loved a good conversation, good music and a good game of Pictionary. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
John is survived by his children/grandchildren: Cheri (Scott Danielson) and Jessica and Stephanie, Warba; Josh (Kann Goff) and Tyler and Frances, Staples and Jeremiah (Juanita Williams) and Joseph, Pillager; father, Daniel, St. Cloud; brothers and sisters: Michael, St. Cloud; Betty (Gene) Pundsack, Foley: Carol (Ed) Kacures, Rice and Bill (Duane Brooks), Portland, OR; niece Kristy (Dave) Ahlbrecht, Clear Lake and nephew Jason (Kristy) Kacures, Blaine and great nephews/niece, Logan and Evan Ahlbrecht and Ella Kacures.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mary, Sept. 22, 2007. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Randall.
