John Capistrant

John E. Capistrant, age 57, of Browerville, died on Saturday, October 23. A funeral service is planned for Thursday, October 28, at 12:00, at the Assembly of God Church in Staples. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at the Moran Riverside Cemetery.

John was born on April 29, 1953, in Pontiac, MI, to Maurice and Wilma (Bridges) Capistrant. He grew up in Michigan, until his family moved to Staples when he was 16. He graduated from the Staples High School in 1971, and then moved back to Michigan, where he would work in landscaping. He would return to Minnesota in the winters. In 1982, he married LaWanna Crosno in Motley, MN, and they raised three children together. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, survival training, coin and knife collecting, flea marketing, auctions, short wave radios, and reading.

John is survived by his former wife, LaWanna of Browerville; children, Dustin (Jennifer Freyman) of St. Cloud and Teneesa (Kristopher) Mumm of Browerville;daughter-in-law, Carissa Capistrant of Brainerd, MN; grandchildren, Cassandra, Markus, Kaitlynn, Zachary, Morgan, and Josiah; brothers, Mark (Liz) of Staples and Phillip (Kimm) of Clifford, MI; sister, Norma (Brades) Burton of TN; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He passed away with his son, Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
