John Donald Black, age 81, of Nisswa passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Memorial services are planned for Friday, December 2, at 12 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with visitation prior to services, from 11-12 PM.
John was born October 24, 1935 in Sioux City, Iowa, to John and Nellie (Campbell) Black. He attended Macalester College in St. Paul, and served his country as a Marine. He worked as a General Manager of facilities for Control Data in Minneapolis for thirty years and also was a franchise owner of a Jiffy Lube. John was a bagpiper in the Brian Boru band. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and loved spending time with his four grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter Beth (Tom); his sons, Jay and Rob (Tracy); and his beloved grandchildren, Cole, Sammy, Ava, and Sophia. His parents and a sister, Jeanne, preceded John in death. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, www.brenny.com.
