John Paul Adamietz, 56, of Staples passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, MN, with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5-8 PM with prayer service at 7:30 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN and also one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at St. Isadore Cemetery, Moran Township.
John was born on June 22, 1957 in Staples, MN to Frank and Marie (Vogel) Adamietz. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Staples High School in 1976. He then went on to graduate from the Farm Mechanic program at the Vo-Tech in Staples. John was self-employed as a carpenter for many years; he sold Conklin products and worked at Northern Manufacturing. As a "snowbird", he enjoyed traveling to Arizona for the winter. John was an honorary member of the VFW of Apache Junction, AZ and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed fishing, especially catching Northerns, was a great cook who was known for his smoked turkeys, homemade date cake, and hosting fish frys for family and friends.
John is survived by his mother; siblings, Mark, Marsha (Kim) Pexsa, Kathleen (Brian) Dobson, Albert (Mary Stangle Hess), Marie (Jan) Pexsa, Francis (Annette), Monica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; infant brother and sister. Good luck fishing, John!
