Joanne Mary Schuler, 88, passed away peacefully while in hospice at the Golden Horizons in Crosslake, MN, on March 15, 2017. Joanne was born June 25, 1928. She graduated from St. Catherine's in St. Paul MN, and worked in higher education and became a licensed psychologist. At age 60 she attended William Mitchell Law School. After passing the Bar she practiced law for ten years before retiring. Joanne was active in the world of aviation as a private pilot, commercial pilot, instructor and also flew gliders. She worked for the Von Trapp Family in Vermont.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Anne Schuler; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Barbara and James P. Larkin, Kathleen and Kamuel Ellis; and nephews: Michael Ellis, Gary La Fond and Christopher La Fond. She is survived by sisters: Dorothy La Fond, Mary Schuler; brother, John Schuler; 30 nieces and nephews, countless grand nieces and nephews and many great grand nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM on Monday, March 20, at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, Crosslake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 3 PM at Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope, MN. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
