Joanne Borgie

Joanne Borgie, age 77, of Brainerd passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society – Bethany, in Brainerd. Joanne’s memorial service will be Saturday, July 29, at 2 pm at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Visitation will be during the hour before the service.

Joanne Frances Borgie was born July 14, 1940 in Minneapolis, to Joseph and Anna (Gasper) Pribula. She grew up and attended school in Minneapolis. She attended vocational school, and then worked as a beautician until 1979. She was married to Bernerd Borgie on December 27, 1962 in Minneapolis, and the couple lived in north Minneapolis. They later moved to Crystal, and Joanne did assembly work at Honeywell. Bernie and Joanne moved to Brainerd in December of 2006. She was very artistic, and enjoyed painting and creating ceramics, which she sometimes sold. She was a gardener of flowers and vegetables. Her hands stayed busy with knitting and crocheting, and she enjoyed reading.

Joanne is survived by Bernie, her loving husband of 54 years; her children, Suzanne (Mark) Hill, of Otsego, and Michael (Cathy) Borgie, of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Holly Ainslie, Andrea Hill, Nicholas Hill, and Abigail Hill; three great-grandchildren, Noelle Hill, Archer Ainslie, and Neala Hill; and two sisters, Betty Henderson, of Tamarac, FL and Cathy Swigart, of Zimmerman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anna Pribula; a daughter, Jacqueline Borgie; a grandson, Maxwell Borgie; and two brothers, Jack Pribula and Mike Pribula. Memorials are preferred to Good Samaritan Society, Bethany Homes, of Brainerd.
