Joan Sanford

Joan E. Sanford, 60, of Merrifield, MN died Friday, November 21, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN. Memorial service for Joan will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, with Rev. Loren Ferch officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes and also one hour prior to services.

Joan was born on November 13, 1954 in Princeton, MN, the daughter of Henry (Pop) and Elenora (Bergmann) Warner. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1972. She went to nursing school at Methodist Hospital and graduated as a RN in 1975. Joan started her nursing career at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Joan then transferred to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, where she worked for 35 years. Joan was united in marriage to William "Bill" Sanford on June 16, 1979 in Princeton, MN, where they made their home. She retired in 2010 and joined her husband at their lake home on Lake Edward. Joan loved to cook, do crossword puzzles, play cards, bingo, fish for sunfish from the pontoon and snowmobile. Joan and Bill had no children, but had many wonderful friends.

Joan is survived by her husband, Bill; brothers, Dennis (Cheryl) Rosen of Grant, MI, Don (Linda) Warner of Eden Prairie, MN; sister in law, Susan Ham and Dave Dobisch of Andover, MN; nieces, Melissa (Brian) Wilbur, Rachel (David) Kuntzch, Amanda Rosen and Carrie (Brad) Smith; nephews, Eric Rosen, Kevin (Jennifer Gehrig) Ham. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary and niece, Angela Warner.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, MN.
