Joan Violet Moberg, 77, of Pequot Lakes, died at Hills Crossing Senior Living in Nisswa on March 8, 2016, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Crookston, MN, on July 26, 1938, to Jens and Viola Harboe. After graduating from Crookston High School she became a bookkeeper and on December 22, 1962, she married Robert Moberg in Crookston. They eventually moved to Pequot Lakes, where she assisted with building the home they resided in for the next 48 years. In addition to her various bookkeeping responsibilities, Joan lovingly operated a home day care facility for 25 years. Joan loved her home and family, her God, and her church, proving to excel at many things through the years, especially the roles of wife and mother. After semi-retirement, she and Robert spent parts of 15 winters on the Florida Panhandle, where she became an avid beachcomber and hostess for numerous impromptu fish fries.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; one son, Robert Jr. of Plymouth; two daughters, Sally (Scot) Kerbaugh of Annandale, and Holly (Marcus Traylor) of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren, Devin and Danai Kerbaugh; and a sister, Christine Moen of St. Paul.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Burial will be in Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, April 1, from 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the memorial service. Memorials to OSLC Building Fund are preferred.
