Jessie L. Anderson, age 83, Brainerd, died Monday, August 13, 2001, at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral services will be Monday, August 20, 2001, 11:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Brainerd, with Reverend David Grotzke officiating. Friends may call at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter on Sunday, August 19, from 5-8:00 PM, and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Private interment services will be at the Gull River Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brenny Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
Jessie Leone (Phillips) Anderson was born on July 31, 1918, in Duluth, MN, to Martin J. and Bertha O. (Cottingham) Phillips. She grew up and attended school in Duluth. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Minnesota, Morris. She was married to Kenneth E. Pearson in Duluth. After being widowed she continued to live and work in Duluth, where she eventually met and married Cecil E. Anderson. The family lived in Long Beach, CA, where Cecil served in the US Navy. Following Cecils death, Jessie and her children moved to Brainerd to be near her family, who farmed on the Gull River. She worked as a Recreational Therapist at the Brainerd Regional Human Services Center. Jessie was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Brainerd, where she served with the Ruth Circle and enjoyed the Birthday Breakfast group. She was a past-President of the VFW Women?s Auxiliary. Jessie was a loyal and enthusiastic fan of the Minnesota Twins, enjoyed reading and needlework, and collected dolls. She will be remembered as a generous person who ?gave good hugs.?

Jessie Anderson is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Don Cameron) Beckers of St. Cloud; a son, Larry M.Anderson of Blaine; 3 grandchildren, Eric Anderson, Melissa Walter, and Brent Beckers; 2 great-grandchildren, Kandace Compton and Taylor Walter; a sister Norma Carkhuff of Brainerd; and a brother Seth R. (Lorraine) Phillips of Vadnais Heights. Her parents, two husbands, a brother Leland, and a grandson Larry ?Michael? preceded Jessie in death.
