Jerry Ray Jackson, 54, of Staples, MN died on Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral services for Jerry will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Staples United Methodist Church in Staples, MN with Pastor Greg Ciesluk officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 5-7 PM, Friday, September 26, 2014 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN and continuing one hour prior to services.
Jerry was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on October 27, 1959 to Jim and Helen (Pelesky) Jackson. His family moved to Deer Creek, MN in 1972 and Jerry graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1978. He served active duty in the US Navy from August 1, 1983 to March 25, 1987 and retired from the Navy on December 6, 2008 with the rank of HT1. Jerry married Carol Parker on June 6, 1992 in Enterprise, Oregon. He attended Staples Technical College and graduated from the Diesel Mechanic program in 1994, and taught the Concrete Pump program at Central Lakes College from July 1998-2001. Jerry owned and operated Jackson Welding & Repair since 2000. He also was a substitute instructor for Heavy Equipment at Central Lakes College. He owned and operated a farm in Todd County.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; parents, Jim and Helen Jackson of Wadena, MN; daughters, Julie Jackson of St. Cloud, MN, Brooke Jackson of Staples, MN; brothers, John (Paula) Jackson of Billings, MT, Jay (Junelle) Jackson of Wadena, MN; sister, Shelly (Steve) Stasiewicz of Sauk Rapids, MN; and eight nieces and nephews. Family requests any memorials be made to Central Lakes College for the Jerry Jackson Scholarship Fund/Diesel Mechanics Program. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
