Jerre Ray Hoskins, age 62, of Brooklyn Center, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Services will be on Monday. August 20, at 2:00 PM at the Church Of Christ, 6206 Lilac Dr, Brooklyn Center with Reverend Joel Salliday officiating. Visitation will start at 12 noon the day of the service. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.
Jerre Ray Hoskins was born on March 6, 1939 in Minneapolis son of Howard and Frieda (Jutting) Hoskins. He attended school in Edina. On October 17, 1956 he enlisted in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge he held a variety of jobs including machinist, mechanic and he also worked at the Ramsey County Park Board. In 1984 he became a bus driver for Head Start. On July 8, 1989 he was united in marriage to Shirley Rowe in Crystal. Jerre retired early in 1999 because of medical problems. Jerre was a very out going person and everyone he met liked him and became his friend. He played Santa Claus at Head Start for his ?kids?, many businesses? and private parties for 17 years. Jerre was a homebody who loved his family, his flowers and Mopar products. He had a fantastic sense of humor even when medical problems became overwhelming. He taught all of us a lot.
Jerre is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Lyn, of Mpls. Chris of Fridley, Nathan (Chandra) of St. Paul, Peter of Arden Hills, Heidi (Salvador) of St. Paul, Heather (Juan) of Bloomington, Hollie (John) of Little Canada, Joe of Brooklyn Park, Jody of St. Paul, Jerre of St. Paul, Jenny of Little Canada, Kathryn of Little Canada, Kelly of Little Canada, Roy of Minneapolis, Len (Victoria) of Worthington, MN, Rita (Bert) of Hollister, MO, Deanna (Ron) of Crystal, Julie Ann of Dallas, TX, Jonni Marie of Lake Elmo, Robert of Brooklyn Center; his father, Howard of Minneapolis; 3 sisters Mary Lou Waye of Mpls, Nancy Mager of St. Cloud Donna Jersted of CA; a brother George Hoskins of Mpls; 28 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Frieda and a brother Howard.
