Jennie Flenniken

November 10, 1915 — June 10, 2009

Jennie Isabel Flenniken, 93, peacefully passed away with family and friends at her side on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Harmony House in Brainerd.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Twiton officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 6 PM until the time of service. Interment will be in California at a later date.

Jennie Isabel Keiser was born in Philadelphia, PA to William and Jennie (Rhoades) Keiser on November 10, 1915. She grew up in the San Pedro area of Southern California. She was united in marriage to Samuel Flenniken in 1934; they were married until his death in 1970. She worked as a retail sales manager for Sears in Ventura County from 1956-1981. She loved to travel and visited many countries all over the world. One of her favorite pastime was square dancing.

She moved to Brainerd in May of 1998 to live with her granddaughter, Diane Lindroth and family. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending Ladies Aid Meetings. She was an avid fan of Brainerd Warrior Football, watching two of her great-grandsons play. Alzheimers Disease made a move to Harmony House, five years ago, necessary. It was here, surrounded by loving staff, she spent her final days. She was loving, funny and never met a stranger. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her son, Tom (June) Flenniken, of Camarillo, CA; her son-in-law, Gayl Towry, of Spokane, WA; six granddaughters and one grandson, Debbie (Dean) Lenaburg, of Coos Bay, OR, Diane (Gary) Lindroth, of Brainerd, MN, Scott (Patty) Towry, of Spokane, WA, Teresa Towry, of Iowa City, IA, Kelly Flenniken, of Camarillo, CA, Terri Palmer, of Camarillo, CA, and Tony (David) Kruger, of Santa Barbara, CA; 20 great-grandchildren;18 great-great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Jack and Ed Horner, both of CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret; brothers, Bill and Jimmy; her husband, Sam; her daughter, Shirley Towry; and her great-granddaughter, Cecilia Anne Kruger.
