Jeffrey Sampson

Jeffrey Peter Sampson, 58, of Stacy MN, passed away at his home in the arms of his family on January 11, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023, at 11:00am at the Motley Free Church in Motley, MN. There will be a visitation for friends and family held from 9:00am until the beginning of the service.  

Jeff was born to Gordon and Yvonne (Scheid) Sampson on December 20, 1964, in Wadena, MN. He graduated from Motley High School and went on to earn his Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, and Computer Science at St. Cloud State University, and the University of Minnesota. He married the love of his life, Gina Freese on August 22, 1987. Jeff and Gina spent the next 10 years together traveling, working, and furthering their education before settling down to have a family. On December 8, 1996, Cameron Jeffrey was born. He was the pride and joy of their beloved family. A few years later, April 2, 2001, Sydnie Alysse was born. Jeff and Gina had their precious little girl, and their family was complete. Cameron and Sydnie are without a doubt, the center of their parents’ lives.

Jeff was a very loving and compassionate man. His family was most important to him, and he loved gathering around the campfire with good friends, family, his dog Sweetpea, and a cold Spotted Cow. Jeff enjoyed coaching baseball and soccer and loved watching his kids at their school activities and sports. He took pride in caring for his home and yard. Jeff looked forward to his bi-monthly trips to Wisconsin for his favorite drink, a Spotted Cow.

 He worked at Wells Fargo for 30 years, and he will be missed by his Wells Fargo family in Minnesota and North Carolina. Jeff will be remembered for his infectious smile, contagious laugh, and good heart.

He is survived by his wife Gina, his son Cameron (Mirella) Sampson, his daughter Sydnie Sampson, his best friend Jimmy Atkinson, his mother Yvonne Sampson, sister Debbie Haataja (Brian), brothers Gary (Nancy) Sampson and Robert (Lorri) Sampson, brother in-law Jerry Freese and sister in-law Gloria Freese, many nieces and nephews and extended family, his seven kitties and his dog Sweetpea.

Jeff is preceded in death by his grandchild August, his father, and grandparents.
