Jean M. Brown, 92, of Pequot Lakes, humbly entered the Pearly Gates on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. She was born to Raymond Theis and Blanche Massey on April 30, 1923, in Minneapolis, MN.
Jean owned and operated DEE-MAR Salon in Minneapolis for 16 years. Upon moving north of Jenkins she went to work for Mary Jane Peterson at her salon for 10 years forming a lifelong friendship. After the sale of that salon and her move to Pequot Lakes, Jean went to work for Glenda and Jack Schmidt at Glenda's Beauty Shop where she stayed for 26 years until her retirement. She took great pride in fixing hair and had many lifelong customers. She was a 36-year member of Pequot Lakes Post 49 Legion Auxiliary and a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She loved traveling, playing cards, fishing and most of all, her family.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Armstrong; 5 grandsons, Bob, Billy, Barry and Brian Rickard and their families, all of Pequot Lakes, Mike Armstrong of Jenkins; sister-in-law, Betty Theis; nephews, Greg and Todd Theis and their families all of Bettendorf, Iowa; and the ray of sunshine to her days, Cynthia Volk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Theis; and 2-year-old sister, Arlene Theis.
Had she been able to speak, her parting words would have been "If you love me let me go. Don't cry for me when I'm gone. I'm home, I'm happy and I'm at peace."
Memorials preferred in lieu flowers. Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, January 2, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in the Pequot Lakes City Cemetery.
