Jean Avery

Jean G. Avery, 88, of Brainerd, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village - Woodland. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village - Woodland Chapel in Brainerd with James Neppl officiating. Luncheon will follow and Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Jean was born April 6, 1927, in Little Falls, MN, the daughter of Lester and Minnie (Jordan) Bratt. Following her high school graduation, Jean was united in marriage to Ralph E. Avery on August 1, 1946. Jean was a great homemaker and in addition she worked for 15 years at the State Hospital in Brainerd as a Recreational Therapist. Jean enjoyed the outdoors - camping and fishing. She liked to cook and would often can food as well. She spent making quiet hours reading and making crafts. Jean was a social butterfly who liked to entertain and be active in her social groups: VFW Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary and the Senior Center. She will be remembered as a peacemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Andrea (Robert) Marohn, of Brainerd and Lana (Delbert) LeDoux, of Brainerd; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Degerstead. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents; brothers, Albert, LaVerne, Dale and Gerald; and her sisters, Lenora, Lois and Peggy.
