Janis Goff

February 16, 1934 — December 25, 2021

Janis Mary Goff, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2021 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples, Minnesota.

Janis was born on February 16th, 1934 in Gwinner, North Dakota to Mabel (Lund) and Gilbert Simon. She graduated from Staples High School where she was a talented member of the school band, choir and National Honors Society. On April, 7th 1953 Jan married the love of her life William “Bill” Goff.

In addition to being a homemaker and raising her four sons, Jan worked at LaBonte Jewelry, Time Jewelry, and Brother III Furniture. She was active in her church circle, was a member of the Brainerd VFW Auxiliary and American Legion. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, antiques and garage sales and had a passion for Minnesota sports. Most of all Jan loved being with her four boys and her grandchildren.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Mabel, brother Gerald Simon, and granddaughter Tina(Goff) Olson. She is survived by her husband Bill Goff, Sons Michael Goff (Mary Jo), Mark Goff (Julie), Patrick Goff (Beverly), and Daniel Goff (Shirley), as well as her sister Kathy Stehr, grandchildren Tom Olson, Jessie Goff (Carissa), Christopher Goff (Jackie), Emily McGinnity (Micah), Ryan Goff (Erika), Maren Martin (Joel) and great-grandchildren, Riley, Austin, Charlotte, Lincoln, Merrick, Lyndie and Emma.


A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, MN Saturday, Jan. 22. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with Mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetary.
