Janis Broughton

Janis Broughton, 66, of Aitkin, died at her home July 28, 2004. Jan was born on January 13, 1938 daughter of Edmund and Lillian (Lindstrand) Nolby in Day, MN. Jan attended and graduated from Minnetonka High School and then attended the University of Minnesota. On July 15, 1961 she was united in marriage to Vern Broughton. Following their marriage they moved to Sioux Falls, SD where they lived for 5 years. They then moved to Lead, SD and lived there for 9 years, then to Rapid City, SD for 5 years and then to Sioux Falls, SD for 5 years. In 1992 they moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area and made their home on Cedar Lake. Jan was a homemaker and a pastor?s wife. While living in Rapid City she worked for the school system. She enjoyed her grandchildren and they lovingly called her ?Nana.? She enjoyed art work, painting and owned an antique shop in Aitkin.
Jan is survived by her husband, Vern; 2 daughters, Julie Ann (Tony Olin) Broughton, Amy Elizabeth Broughton both of Red Wing; 5 grandchildren; her mother Lillian Nolby of Minnetonka and a brother Roger Nolby of Hopkins. Her father preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 31, 11 AM, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brainerd. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 ? 7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Burial will be at Deerwood Cemetery on Cedar Lake at a later date.
