Janice Petersen, 81, of Brainerd, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday October 1, 2024, in Brainerd. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 at United Presbyterian Church in Rockford, MN at 2pm, visitation will be held one hour prior. 

Janice was born on November 1, 1942, to Lester and Ethel (Nelson) Tronrud. She attended Mound Public School and Agassiz Elementary School for the deaf in Minneapolis, and Marshall Junior High School in Minneapolis. She worked at Animal Fair Factory, where she met her future mother in-law, before meeting Laurence. During the summer of 1963, Janice and Laurence finally did meet each other at a beach birthday party on Lake Independence. Janice took her sister Judy’s place at this party because she was sick and could not attend. Janice and Laurence were married on October 10, 1964, at St. George’s Catholic Church in Long Lake, MN. 

Janice and Laurence went on to raise their two daughters in Delano, MN. Janice worked at Collectors Galleries in Long Lake, as well as being a seamstress and a homemaker. They eventually retired to the Brainerd, MN area, where Janice spent her last year’s fishing, enjoying the view from her lake home, watching the birds at the feeders, and feeding the chipmunks. 

Grateful for sharing her life are her children; Jean Petersen-Quigley (Mark) and Leslie McCarty (Mike, deceased), Grandchildren; Paul Elliott, Peter Elliott, Coley Hill (Shane), Great Grandchildren; Margo Hill and Silas Hill, Siblings; Judy Petersen and Christine Hardy

She is preceded in death by her husband Laurence, her father and mother, sibling; Jean Tronrud, Brothers in Law; Thomas Petersen and Thomas Hardy. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
