Janet Schmidt

Janet Ann Schmidt was born on January 1, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN to John and Mabel Waddick. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis in 1951. Janet married Richard Barry Schmidt on July 31, 1954 at St. Austin Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN.

Janet and Barry were residents of Brooklyn Center, MN until 1990 when they retired to Cross Lake, MN. Barry and Janet had four children and seven grandchildren.
Janet was involved with the Brooklyn Center Jaycees and was an Election Judge for many years. She was also a Brownie leader when her daughters were young. Janet also worked as the Center Administrator for Brookdale Shopping Center for many years.
Over the years, Barry and Janet greatly enjoyed spending time with friends and family on Knife Lake and at Crosslake. They also enjoyed annual camping trips to the Black Hills and national parks out west. For many years, they also enjoyed spending part of the winter in Florida.

Janet was a devout Catholic and very active member of Immaculate Heart Church and CCW. After retirement, Janet volunteered her time to the Crosslake Visitor Center, Food Shelf, Historical Center, Log Home Tours and Senior Dining.

Janet is survived by her husband of 58 years Barry, son Mark (Barbara) Schmidt of Chaska, MN, son Jim (Sara) Schmidt of Boise, ID; daughter Patti (Steve) Hagen of Eden Prairie, MN; daughter Lynn (Steve) Britven of Fridley, MN. Her grandchildren are Erik and Katelyn Schmidt; Doug and Angela Schmidt; Alec Hagen; and Kristine and Joey Britven.
Janet is also survived by her sister Lois (Mike) Lynch of Crosslake, MN and Bonita Springs, FL. She is also survived by her niece Rita Moen and nephews Daniel and Patrick Lynch.

Janet died November 8, 2012 at Golden Horizon's Assisted Living in Crosslake. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 12, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crosslake. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior. Interment will take place at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
