Janet Scattarelli

Janet S. Scattarelli, 72, of Garrison, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima in Garrison. Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will follow services on Thursday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Janet was born August 29, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Ambrose and Leonette (Soppe) Scheller. The family moved to California and she graduated from high school in Santa Monica. In 1960, she married Herbert Scattarelli and the couple moved to Minneapolis to be closer to family. Janet worked as an in-home day care provider before working for Target Corporation. In 1994, Janet and Herb moved to Holt Lake in Garrison where they enjoyed lake life in what she called "God's Country".

Janet was the ultimate caregiver, taking everyone else's needs before her own. She was very active with the Catholic Church and continually volunteered in many areas within the church. She was also the go-to person at the Food Shelf in Garrison and helped out at the VFW wherever needed. Janet was proud to be a Breast Cancer Survivor for the last twelve years. She liked crocheting, playing card games, crossword puzzles and tried to clean our clock in cribbage and Words With Friends, but most of all Janet cherished her time with her family - especially the grandchildren.

She will be missed by her husband, Herb; children, Tony (Teri) Scattarelli, of Elk River and Angela (Jerry) Hatch, of Madison, AL; brothers, Merlin Scheller and Kenny Scheller; sister, Lois Jones; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Allen; parents; and brother, Ambrose, Jr.
