Janet Moen

Janet Marie Moen, age 79, formerly of Bloomington, MN, passed away February 15, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born August 27, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN, and moved to Ideal Corners, MN, in 1983.

Jan was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Alice (Anderson) Thompson; husbands, Douglas Melby and Frederick Moen; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by two brothers, Bruce (Forney,Texas) and Michael Thompson (Pequot Lakes, MN); sons, Daniel Melby (Robin) and Douglas Melby; daughters, Sherry Moen, Lisa Sweet (Ken); 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Jan was a member of VFW Posts 1296 (Bloomington) and #3839 (Jenkins) and American Legion #49 (Pequot Lakes). She was well known for her dedication and support in the POW*MIA organization for over 20 years. Jan worked for many years as a housekeeper in Bloomington and also at private homes in Ideal Township. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with family and friends.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 4, at Kline Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes, MN.
