Janet Gertrude (Wierwill) Hudak, 83, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Essentia Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.

A Celebration of Janet’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter.  Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and to stay for a reception to follow.  Interment at Mound Cemetery in LeSueur will take place at a later date.

Janet was born January 26, 1936, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Norris and Thelma (Prince) Wierwill.  She was raised in LeSueur and graduated from high school there in 1954.  She continued her education at Hamline University where she received her degree in 1958.  She was very proud to have worked at Green Giant throughout her college years.  In 1959, she married John Hudak.  They made their home in Bloomington.  She enjoyed caring for her family and staying home, however she did spend some time working for Nathan Harrison.  In 2005, she and John moved to Pequot Lakes.

More than anything else, Janet loved her family.  She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was an expert menu planner, which allowed her to showcase her baking and cooking skills.  She was known as the “Pie Queen”.

She will be missed by many and is survived by, children, Sandra (Halvorson) Hudak, of Pequot Lakes, Elisabeth (Jeff) Greeney, of Bloomington, and Edward (Jodie) Hudak, of Duluth; grandchildren, Laura Halvorson, Joanna (Jeremy) Niesen, Michael (Amanda) Greeney, Matthew (Erika) Greeney, William Greeney, Ryan Greeney, Allison Hudak and Andrew Hudak; great-grandchildren, Addison, Kaylee, Avery, Joelle, Carly, and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by David Melin to whom she was second mom, as well as Erik Lundstrom and Maddie Greeney, whom she thought of as her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John.
