Jane McHale

Jane Ellen McHale, 88, of Brainerd, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village - Bethany. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Good Samaritan - Bethany Chapel in Brainerd. Family and friends are welcome to gather Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services at Bethany on Saturday. Interment will take place at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.

Jane was born November 17, 1926, in Pillager, the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Bader) Dorsey. She graduated from Pillager High School and continued her education by attending Normal Teacher Training then teaching at Long Prairie, Wadena, and Cushing. In 1947, she married Leonard Nygren. They lived and farmed south of Pillager for many years. After being a stay at home mom for some time, Jane worked at the State hospital in the early 1960's. In 1970, Jane returned to college and received her Bachelor's of Science in Education, teaching at Pillager until her retirement in 1984. Leonard died in 1981. In August 1984 she married Ray Fitzer, Sr., who died in June 1997. In August 1996, she married Don McHale, who died in July 2004.

Throughout her life, Jane was active in many organizations, with the Bethany Auxillary being her most recent. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, knitting and reading a good book. She will be missed.

She is survived by her children, John Nygren, of Pillager, Diane Nygren, of Fargo, ND, Russell (Meg) Nygren, of Cushing, and Juanita (Terry) Wallin, of Pine River; the families of Ray Fitzer, Sr and Don McHale; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three husbands; parents; siblings, Ruth DeVine and Bill Dorsey; and her grandson, Troy Nygren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
