Jance Olive

Janice "Jan" T. Olive, 84, of Baxter, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Bethany Good Samaritan Hospice Care after being diagnosed with cancer three months ago.

Janice was born July 17, 1926, in the home of her parents John T. and Bertha (Groen) Weyenberg on Birch Street in Kimberly, WI. Dr. Maes and her grandmother, Frances Groen, who was a midwife for the community, assisted in the delivery of her first grandchild.

She was active in school and had many great memories of her high school years; she graduated from Kimberly High School in 1944. After graduating from high school, Jan worked as a telephone operator during WWII in Appleton, WI.

Jan married her high school sweetheart, Bob Olive on April 19, 1947 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly, WI. They bought their first home and had both their daughters, Pat and Lynne, while living in Sugar Bush, WI.

Jan and Bob moved to Minneapolis in 1954 when Bob started to work for General Motors. His job brought them to live in Chicago area for many years.

Jan and Bob retired in Darboy and lived there before going full-time in their RV. Traveling the United States together, visiting family and friends were some of her happiest times. They settled in Tucson, AZ before moving to Baxter, MN three years ago. They spent 63 wonderful years together.

Jan's interests were varied; she played golf, loved to travel and enjoyed crafts. She spent time everyday on her computer communicating wither family and friends.

She was united in marriage to Robert Olive and they spent 63 wonderful years together. When they retired, Jan and Bob traveled throughout the United States full-time in their RV visiting friends and family. They lived in Tucson, AZ before moving to Baxter three years ago.

Jan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She will be missed by her husband, Robert; her daughters, Pat (Greg) Kvale, of Baxter, MN, and Lynne Hubert, of Bozeman, MT; her sister, Joan (Don) Westerberg, of Niagara, WI; her grandchildren, Laurel Hubert of Los Angeles, CA, Luise Hubert, of Los Angeles, CA, and Peter Kvale, of Duluth, MN; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jack Weyenberg.

A Funeral Mass for Jan will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kimberly, WI on September 17, 2010 at 4:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
