James “Jim” D. Schultz passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2020 with his family by his side. A celebration of Jim’s life will be on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at The Log Church in Crosslake, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services.
Jim was born in St. Cloud, MN on Dec. 1, 1944 to Deward and Thelma Schultz. His family moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Jim attended Washburn High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966 with a degree in business/marketing. Jim married Jeanne in 1968. He served in the Army Reserves for the next 6 months then accepted a job with Cargill where he worked for 34 years. After taking early retirement from Cargill he went to Washington, DC to work for a trade association and then spent his last year working in the George Bush administration which was a very special time for him and the family. He retired in 2009. After retirement the family moved to their current home on Kimble Lake. Jim was a member at the Log Church in Crosslake where he sang in the choir and praise team. He also served on the Men’s Ministry Team, and on the church elder board. In the community he served on the WAPOA board, the Kimble Lake Property Owners Board, and organized and served with the Kimble lake AIS monitoring. He loved being part of the dialogue about issues in the township and on the lakes. Jim embodied the phrase “he was a friend to all he met,” and will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Jennifer of Pequot Lakes, MN, Andy of Otsego, MN, Matthew of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Angelina; brother, Ron (Natalie) of Louisville, KY; and sister, Monie (Keith) Carlson of Eden Prairie, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
