James Salter, age 24, formerly of Staples, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at Myrtle Beach, SC. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 14, at 11 am, at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples with Pastor Orv Sauter and Sarah Yetter officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10-11 am. Services will be followed by cremation. James Michael Salter was born February 8, 1983 in Phoenix, AZ, to Richard and Ann (Tanner) Salter. He moved to Staples with his family in 1994, and lived there until age 16, when he joined his father in Belgium. He graduated from high school in Belgium and then enlisted in the US Army for two years, stationed in Texas. After his honorable discharge he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, where he served in the National Guard, attended school part-time for Criminal Justice, and worked part-time. He loved sports, especially basketball and baseball, and enjoyed video games. James is survived by his parents, Ann (Robb) Peterson, Staples, and Richard (Susan) Salter, Jr, Myrtle Beach, SC; siblings, Diana (Chris) Wiederich, Fergus Falls, Jennifer Peterson, Waite Park, Elaine (Bronson Windorski) Wold, Staples, Jeniffer Salter, Myrtle Beach, and Jessica Salter, Myrtle Beach; grandparents, Bob (Darla) Peterson, Staples, Shirley (Jim) Simpson, Bishop, CA, and Richard Salter, Sr., step-grandparents, Suzanne and Vicky Rae Jones, Conway, SC; great-grandmother, Betty Mahar, Staples; nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Michael, Mitchell, Kelsi, Madelyn, Jackson, Haylee, and Kendall; and many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his grandmother, Elaine Brewer.
