James A. "Jim" Russell, age 60, of Nisswa, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009. A "Celebration Gathering" in honor of Jim's life will be from 1:00 until 5:00 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2009, at his daughter, Wendy's home near Pequot Lakes, MN.
James Allen Russell was born on February 22, 1949, in Seattle, WA, the son of LeRoy and Jean (Jelinek) Russell. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, IA. On September 6, 1980, he was united in marriage to Colleen Kaye Doubek in Blairstown, IA. Jim worked in the propane industry and for the last few years was self-employed as an energy consultant for National Energy Consultants. He was a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, IA. The family moved to the Nisswa area 20 years ago but kept a home in Bayard, IA, as well. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, both in Iowa and Minnesota. He was also an avid softball player playing in the Major Open League in Cedar Rapids, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy and brother-in-law, Ralph Doubek. Jim will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Kaye of Nisswa; daughters, Wendy (Scott) Snyder and their children, Megan and Conner of Pequot Lakes, Rhonda (Bobby) Rickard and their children, Dalton and Kenndra of Pequot Lakes; brothers, Jeff (Beth) Russell and their children, Jennifer and Brittney, of Olympia, WA, and Joel (Jan) Russell and their children, Josh and Jonno, of Bettendorf, IA; sisters-in-law, Vicki Siek and family, and Christine (Steve) Graff and family; In-laws, Al (Karen) Ullerich; several aunties and uncles; numerous cousins; and all his hunting and fishing buddies.
