James Royalty, age 73, of Pequot Lakes, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at the St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 18, at Crosslake Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Anderson officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wed. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake and for one hour prior to Services at the Church on Thursday. Interment will be at 1:00 PM Friday in Crystal Lake Cemetery at Minneapolis.
James Royalty was born on Feb. 26, 1931, in Chicago, IL, the son of Guy and Vella (Renslow) Royalty. He was called from this life late Sunday night, November 14, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. He attained the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 19 days.
James spent his early years in Chicago, and at the age of 7 moved to Minneapolis to live with Ray and Edith Andress. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1950. After his schooling he began a career in sales that lasted his entire working years. He was a salesman for a variety of companies including, Presto Corporation, Royalty Realty, 3M, and Schick Corporation. On September 7, 1976, he married Joan Midthun at Revillo, SD. Jim and Joan were able to share over 28 years of marriage together. After their marriage they lived on Weaver Lake in Maple Grove, MN, and then Deer Lake in St. Croix Falls, WI. Upon retiring the couple moved to the Crosslake area living for a period of time on Crosslake and finally Pelican Lake. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. His activities included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and golf. He especially appreciated the hospitality afforded him at Crosswoods Golf Course this last year.
He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Ray and Edith; and two brothers, Jack and Bill. Jim is mourned in passing by his wife, Joan of Pequot Lakes; daughter, Terry Royalty and her partner, Kevin Krogman, of Plymouth, MN; son, Rodney and his wife, Michelle Royalty of St. Michael, MN; step-children, Lori McNeil of Eagan, MN; Michael and his wife, Sherri McNeil of Woodbury, MN; and David and his wife, Lisa McNeil of Houston, TX; a brother, Robert and his wife Maureen Lenberg of Orlando, Florida; and 14 grandchildren.
