James Pierson

James (Jim) Pierson passed to his heavenly home on December 30, 2024. He was born in Lamoni, IA on December 7, 1935, to Donly and Esther (Holloway) Pierson. Jim graduated from Des Moines Public Schools in 1954. His education continued at Graceland College, Drake University and St. Cloud State University. 

Jim married Anne vonFischer on July 4, 1959. Jim was an elementary school teacher and later elementary principal in Des Moines, IA. He also initiated and led a program for adults learning to read. In 1971 he and his family moved to Minnesota where he took the position of elementary school principal in the newly consolidated Cuyuna Range Public Schools. Jim loved children and strived to improve their lives in the classroom and on the playground. He enjoyed working with the handicapped and Special Olympics.

Jim is survived by his wife and children: Ed (Jane), Mary (Kelly) Brimmer, Eric and David (Cindy). Grandchildren: Nick Pierson, Dan Pierson, Tyler (Amanda) Brimmer, Shelley (Brandon) Grund. Great grandchildren: Brooks and Nash Brimmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna Gray and his beloved dog Amy.
