James Mathewson

James C. Mathewson, 71, of Scandia Valley died Friday, April 25 at his home. James Charles Mathewson was born May 26, 1931 in Scandia Valley, to Charles and Ingrid (Eksten) Mathewson. He grew up on the family farm in Scandia Valley, and graduated from Pillager High School. Despite being disabled, he worked for a time at the Land O? Lakes Creamery in Brainerd and for the Parks Department in Lincoln, Nebraska. Following his parents? deaths he continued to live on the family farm. He enjoyed hiking, singing and playing the guitar, and reading.
James Mathewson is survived by a sister, Regina (Marvin) Swanson of Esko and a brother, Ralph (Eva) Mathewson of Lewiston, Idaho. His parents preceded him in death.

A gathering of family and friends to remember Jim?s life will be Sunday, May 4, 2:00 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Burial will be later, at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.
